Welcome to Davlia!
The village of Davlia is amphitheatrically built on the east-southeastern slopes of Parnassus mountain, at an altitude from 320-402 meters above sea level, very near the ancient city with the name of Daulis. It can easily be reached via the old national road from Livadia to Lamia, or via the national road Livadia-Delphi-Nafpaktos. The Davlia railway station is conveniently located at a distance of 7.5 km (4.6 miles) from the village.
The ideal climate during the summer and the village’s proximity to Mt. Parnassus Skiing Center has helped to make this village a year round resort. Additionally, Livadia, the capital city of the Prefecture, is only 23 km (14 miles) away. For the same reasons the inhabitants of Davlia occupy themselves with both traditional agricultural and animal husbandry activities and tourism.
The village, besides being an ideal starting point for many local excursions, is also featuring many interesting sightseeing opportunities, like the Daulis Acropolis, the Jerusalem Holy Convent, an important cultural shrine since the period of the Turkish occupation. A visit to the four watermills preserved around the village is of special importance, since one can see the water power harnessing specific gear in place and in very good condition. The medieval chapel of Aghios Georgios (St. George) also deserves a visit. Another landmark is the Old Town Clock in Davlia.
While Davlia is an ideal mountain resort, it is not but a short ride away from a series of beaches for the summer visitor to enjoy swimming as well. Numerous trekking tracks cross the area, while Delphi and Chaironeia archaeological sites are a short drive away.
