Czech Republic | Forming one country with Slovakia until December 31st, 1992, Czech Republic had to undergo a very hard period following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989. Despite their euphoria over their freedom, the people had to face the shock of the abrupt transition to the Free Economy. The Confederacy with Slovakia was dissolved by means of a so-called “velvet divorce” and Czech Republic proceeded to reforms which, with the help of the pre-existing productive infrastructure, managed to make the country part of the EU. A land with a rich history, deep cultural roots, architectural riches, nice towns, good and continuously growing tourist infrastructure, low consumer prices, rich folk traditions, native country of the Black and the Puppet Theaters, Czech Republic is looking forward to having us as guests. |
