Poseidonia (Dellagrazia)
Welcome to Poseidonia!
Situated in a fertile green section on the southwest coast of Syros, this beautiful seaside resort features neoclassical mansions, private gardens, fine sandy beaches, and lots of pine trees. Named after Poseidon, the god of the sea, the village also is known as Dellagrazia, taken from the Catholic church of Santa Maria Della Grazia. The area was first established in the 1800s, with many of the mansions having belonged to wealthy ship owners. In spite of growing tourism, Poseidonia still retains a certain old world feeling along its tree-lined streets. The bay of the area has fine sandy beaches, plus a diving center. You’ll find restaurants, cafes and a mini market, and there’s excellent bus service to the capital.
