Bali is situated only 28 kilometers (17.4 miles) east of Rethymno. This fishing village, turned seaside resort, is beautifully situated on a hilly peninsula, framed by mountains and overlooking the bay and the sea. You could not ask for a more picturesque setting.
With a small port, cafés, restaurants, beaches situated in three coves, and good accommodation, you have an excellent base for your holiday.
During high season, there’s the possibility to get take an excursion to Rethymno by boat. You can also make several excursions up into the mountains, one of which is a visit to the Ideon Cave (legendary birthplace of Zeus), with a stop for lunch in the lovely village of Anogia, noted for its handcrafts.
