Welcome to Aegiali!
Aegiali (also spelled Egiali or even Aigiali), the northern port of the island of Amorgos, a most ancient settlement, features exquisite sandy beaches, some of which offer shade here and there and a respite from the sun.
It is in fact a complex of five settlements: Aegiali itself, plus its port, Ormos, which is a summer resort with a long and wide sandy beach that's friendly to kids; and three villages not far from the sea, and with access to it via rough walking paths or by public bus, Potamos, Tholaria and Lagadia. These are very picturesque villages, originally built as refuge settlements for the locals back in the times when piracy was a constant threat in the Aegean.
Today, with the houses restored and the settlements extended, one gets the feeling that the five settlements are quickly becoming one. Ormos features a good tourist infrastructure, considering the size of the island, addressed to people with various needs and wishes.
