This mountain village sits at the base of the mountain Exobourgo, site of the Venetian fortress that occupied the unusual-looking craggy mountain that is the landmark of Tinos when approaching from the sea. Here you will find beautiful old homes, the office of the mayor of the region, and the seat of the Catholic Archbishop for Tinos, Naxos, and Mykonos. There is a newly-created museum which is housed alongside the Catholic archives, both recounting the long history of the island. Across the courtyard from the museum's building is the magnificent Catholic Cathedral.
