Situated on the north coast, this is Ikaria’s second port, and the starting point for the best north shore beaches heading westward. It is an unpretentious little seaside village with some stately neoclassical houses, and it is home to the many fishing boats that fish the waters to the north. There is a decent beach there, with two nicer ones to the east; but you should move further west toward Armenistis to swim at its very fine and picturesque sandy beaches. The village of Evdilos has about 2,500 inhabitants and was the former capital of the island. There are several nice restaurants in the town; be sure to try the Ikarian wine!
