Voula Seaside Suburb
Voula Beach |
Welcome to Voula!
Running along the southwest coast of the mainland, and just after the seaside suburb of Glyfada, one comes to the lovely suburban seaside area of Voula, just 17 kilometers south of the center of Athens. This is a very popular area during the summer for Athenians looking to escape the heat of the city and have some fun along the shore.
Two of the major beaches, one at 84,000 square meters, and the other at 86,000 square meters, are well organized with plenty of umbrellas and sun beds, changing cabins and showers, restaurants, cafes, and water sports. The water is beautifully clean, and there’s usually a soft offshore breeze to cool things down a bit.
Good public transportation has now made the area even easier to access than in the past, with the new seaside tram from Athens terminating at this coastal town. If you’re driving down to Sounion, this is an excellent spot to stop along the way for a refreshing swim and a bite to eat.
