Agios Kirikos Port Town
Welcome to Agios Kirikos!
The present capital of the island and its main port, Ai. Kirikos, is situated on the south coast of the island, toward the eastern section. It is connected by a main road that crosses over to the north to access the beautiful north coast beaches. This is an attractive seaside village of approximately 3,000 inhabitants. There is a small Archaeological & Folklore Museum in the town, plus plenty of restaurants and tavernas.
Just about one kilometer up the coast is the spa of Therma, the well-known hot springs retreat for the treatment of arthritis and rheumatism, plus other neurological and gynecological ailments.
Two kilometers west of the capital are the natural hot springs of Levkades (these are really hot), plus a very nice beach and an imposing landscape of volcanic boulders.
A new paved road leads northeast from the capital to the relatively new airport at Faros with flights to and from Athens several times a week. Here you will also find a very nice sand/pebble beach plus a good fish taverna, and a lovely view across to the small islands of Fourni.
