| Vietnam | The smiling people! Despite the fact that two wars were fought in the time span of some 40 years, hard wars that left behind a level of poverty we, westerners, have a great difficulty to fathom, the people are loughing! Indeed, our main impression after this voyage, and a vivid one, is of people of all ages riding their bicycles with a wide smile on their faces!
It is obvious that the Vietnamese are a hard working people aspiring to secure a place among the developed countries, and tourism is one of the means to achieve this goal. The picturesque land- and seascape environments, the abundance of water and the country's long historical and cultural past are of exreme importance to the inquisitive traveler! |
