Tempi Valley

The Valley of Tempi (Pronounced Tembi) is a most picturesque and historic one, created by the Pinios River as it crosses the straits between the mountainous terrain on its way to its delta.

This part of the river is ideal for canoeing and bird-watching. Flora is very rich and will reward anyone for going on foot on the part of the banks that is accessible. One could follow the trail of the abandoned railroad after it has been redirected through newly built tunnels.

A magnificent road goes along the valley and the river. The problem is that this road is part of the national highway Athens-Thessaloniki, and being narrow and winding makes it dangerous. Please drive carefully and follow the speed limits!
