One of the most beautiful mosques in all Greece, the Osman Shah mosque, known as Kursum Camii, was built by the great architect Sinan, of Greek ancestry. It is his only work found on Greek soil. Built in 1567-68, it was renovated in the 90's and inaugurated in January 1998. Restoration works included the rebuilding of the collapsed portico and of the damaged minaret; also fixing the damaged dome of the octagonal mausoleum south of the main mosque building. The mosque is used as an art gallery and for cultural events.
