Born in Livadia in 1752, a pre-revolution hero, spent all his life attacking the Ottoman rulership in Greece and the Balkans. He died in Crimea in 1804. He did not hesitate to attack Katerina the Great, czar of Russia, when she agreed to end the Turkish-Russian War in 1792.
Erkyna River through Livadia
A couple of thousand feet downstream from its springs, Erkyna river flows on its stone-paved bed, harnessed to the best of the ecological trends of the previous century. It's a gift to the environment and the people that later on, the river is left to flow in its natural bed.

Housing a hotel in the past, it is used to house the municipal authorities now, since the old municipal buildling was emptied to be renovated. Local people hope that some Higher Technical Education department will be stationed in the city.
